Risha Kedia is a student at La Martiniere for Girls, Kolkata. Her academic interests lie at the intersection of economics and history, especially how access to financial resources impacts women’s livelihoods and rural development. She holds a strong leadership streak, demonstrated during her tenure as a junior prefect at school, and one of the co-editors of the Heritage Club’s magazine. Her passion for financial inequality and rural women’s economic independence inspired her to launch The Microfinance for Women Alliance (MWA), connecting aspiring women entrepreneurs with the funding and financial literacy they need to build sustainable businesses.
Personally, Risha is driven to be a confident communicator and public spokesperson for issues that need urgent discussion. Thus, she has trained herself to be a skilled debater, MUN participant, and distinction holder in Trinity College London examination for public speaking. When not studying or working on her social project, she likes to hum to the tunes and ragas of Hindustani classical.
